With LeBron out of the East, the Celtics have the inside track to dominate the conference for the foreseeable future, but recent reports say Kyrie Irving may be mulling over the possibility of leaving Boston when he hits free agency to join the Knicks.
Colin has always supported player mobility and thinks Kyrie is an incredible talent, but he thought Irving forcing his way out of Cleveland, away from LeBron, was a mistake. LeBron helped transform Kyrie’s reputation from that of an oft-injured scorer on a losing team to a top-tier star on a champion. In the end, Irving was more interested in getting credit than staying and winning more titles.
Now Kyrie has the best coach in the NBA and a team that is set up to dominate the East, but he would reportedly trade more potential championships for the commercial stardom of playing in New York. Colin thinks Irving splitting from a second title contending team to move to the worst run organization in sports confirms he’s a flake. And the Earth is definitely round, that whole thing doesn’t help.
“There are no better coaches than Brad Stevens. The Celtics have draft picks, depth… they’ve got everything. They have no egos, promising young stars and you want out of that?”@ColinCowherd reacts to rumors Kyrie Irving is looking at the Knicks pic.twitter.com/TIj1ndAJVd
