Colin: Jim Harbaugh may be weird, but he’s an elite head coach

Jim Harbaugh is weird dude, a fact that was further confirmed this week when former QB Wilson Speight revealed that Harbaugh once told him not to eat chicken because it was a “nervous bird” that could transmit it’s nervous characteristics to his players by eating it.

Harbaugh’s quirks were endearing to the Michigan fan base when he swooped in and salvaged the Brady hoke dumpster fire with a 10-win season out of the gate, but after an 8-5 2017 season, his act is wearing thin and some are claiming he’s on the hot seat.

Colin agrees Harbaugh is a little (a lot) crazy, but thinks those suddenly claiming he can’t coach are clueless. Harbaugh took over a non-competitive mess from Hoke and was two fluke plays away from 11 wins in his first two seasons in Ann Arbor. Even after an 8 win season, the program is still in far better shape than it was when he took over.

He also engineered quick turnarounds at Stanford and with the 49’ers, turning both from doormats to title contenders.  It’s fair to say Harbaugh is a weird bird, but people claiming he should be fired are the real crazies.
