Social media was buzzing on Friday when new Browns GM John Dorsey agreed to a series of deals, in principle, including acquiring Buffalo QB Tyrod Taylor, Miami wide receiver Jarvis Landry, and Green Bay corner Damarious Randall.
The flurry of deals came as a surprise to many, and had some media immediately declaring the Browns as playoff contenders. Some further speculated they increased the likelihood Cleveland could take Saquon Barkley with the #1 pick.
Like most things on social media, Colin felt most people overreacted to the potential impact of the moves.
The reality is the Browns just went 0-16, and adding Tyrod Taylor and Jarvis Landry isn’t even close to enough to turn Cleveland around in the short term. Showing a pulse in the offseason is a good sign, but nothing is going to change until they get their long term answer at quarterback. They still need to take Sam Darnold with the first pick to start to change things for good.
