Bill Buckner passed away yesterday at 69, and on the day of his passing most people focused on his enduring 22-year major league career during which he amassed over 2,700 hits, rather than his infamous ’86 World Series gaffe that he spent decades trying to recover from.

While Buckner never got his redemption on the diamond, he did during a cameo on Season 8 of Curb Your Enthusiasm when he was forced back into action to make a life saving grab of a baby who was dropped out of the window of a burning building.

In this scene, Buckner makes the grab, saves the baby, and becomes a hero. Although it’s just a scene from a sitcom, it’s hard not to genuinely feel happy for a man who never deserved the hell he had to endure from one play that didn’t really lose the series.

RIP to Bill Buckner.  Let’s celebrate his memory by re-living one of the good ones.

Rest In Peace to the legendary Bill Buckner (1949-2019). He played 22 seasons in the MLB for 5 different teams. He also stars in one of the best episodes of Curb your Enthusiasm. pic.twitter.com/OIr8bjf16O
