There’s nothing more cutthroat than the food chain, and sometimes what you think is the predator ends up being the prey.

During a recent research expedition, NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Office of Ocean Exploration thought they had really stumbled on something incredible when one of their observation cams off the South Carolina coast picked up a shark feeding frenzy on a dead swordfish. That’s when a big ol’ wreckfish swooped in and stole the show by swallowing one of the baby sharks for dinner. The old man swam around for a minute with the shark still dangling from his mouth and futily trying to escape.

Watch this deepwater savagery from an unsuspecting killer.
