Pat RIley is single again after breaking up with Dwyane Wade’s contract and is primed to hit the 2017 NBA free agency market like Tinder on a Saturday night in South Beach. Riley seemingly always lands a coveted free agent when the time comes, and the Wade move signals he’s betting he can do it again.
With Dwyane Wade’s $20 million contract off the books in Chicago, and the potential of having Chris Bosh and his $23 million waived as a medical exemption, Pat Riley will have an opportunity to add two max players to temperamental shot blocking savant Hassan Whiteside, who just signed a four year max extension.
Colin thinks that with Wade out of the picture, Riley is licking his chops to get Chris Paul out for dinner on the yacht in Biscayne Bay and close the deal.
“There’s a huge free agent class coming up, and they have no state tax. They’ll have a rim protector. They’ll have a young player, Winslow. I think Chris Paul, tired of the dysfunction, doesn’t like Doesn’t like Blake or DeAndre. I think he’s going to Miami.”
With a pool of free agents that will include Paul, Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Riley could re-position the Heat at the top the Eastern conference if he can do what he’s always done best, close.
