The hidden ball trick was born in baseball, but last night Johns Hopkins lacrosse player Joel Tinney decided to try the trick in a game against Navy. He pulled it off and the result was tremendous.
Tinney casually jogged past a teammate and flipped the ball like he was executing a run-of-the-mill hand off, which happens 100 times the game.
He faked the flip, kept the ball, but no one on the Navy team realized it. He scored on a deep shot that the goalie never saw coming. He was actually looking in the opposite direction.
We don’t do a ton – or any – lacrosse coverage, but this play was definitely worthy of making the cut.
