It’s not uncommon to see major league hitters get their bats sawed off with a nasty sliddy. When it happens to a college player, it makes you do a double take.
The rare event occurred over the weekend during a Florida/Vandy SEC Baseball game, when Gator catcher J.J. Schwarz stepped to the plate. Schwarz snapped his aluminum bat at the handle when he got busted in on the hands. He still managed to muscle out a single.
It’s the college baseball equivalent of Robert Redford ripping the cover off the ball in The Natural, or something like that.
