Dwight Howard signed with his hometown Hawks in the offseason after several disappointing seasons in Houston. He’s averaging a solid double double on the season (14.5 points, 12.9 rebounds), but has never been accused of having any offensive skill or ball handling ability in his career.
In last night’s 109-107 loss to the Suns, Howard thought it would be a good idea to test out the old point guard skills in front of the Suns crowd. It went about as badly as you would expect.
Howard ran the point on the fast break after getting a rebound in the first quarter. As he approached half court, for some reason he decided to try a one-handed, left handed, alley-oop off the bounce. No Hawks were in the zip code, and the pass rocketed off the glass and back to the Suns. Nice work.
Don’t ever do that again, Dwight. Ever.
