Cincy linebacker Vontaze Burfict made the highlights yesterday with a pick six yesterday off Kirk Cousins, but today he’s in the news for a more familiar reason, he’s facing a potential 5-game suspension from the NFL for a cheap shot in last week’s preseason game against the Chiefs.
The NFL is alleging that Burfict’s defenseless de-cleating of KC fullback Anthony Sherman is worthy of a suspension under league rules. Burfict faces the lengthy suspension because he is a repeat offender, stemming from his 2015 playoff headhunting of Antonio Brown. According to Adam Schefter, he will appeal the decision.
