UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen made news, yesterday, when he said he would rather go later in the draft than go to the ‘wrong team.’ Most connected the dots to conclude that the Browns, who have the first overall pick, were ‘the wrong team’ to which he was referring.
USC’s Sam Darnold doesn’t seem to have the same hang ups. When asked about the possibility of playing for the Browns in a pre-Cotton Bowl press conference, Darnold went anti-Rosen and said he would be ‘honored to play for any team’ when he comes out in the draft. Even the dumpster fire on the Cuyahoga.
Darnold obviously hasn’t declared for the draft, yet, so he could always stay in school. Even if he doesn’t mean it, this is a lot smarter than Josh Rosen’s approach.
