Shortly after NBA bad boy and unofficial American diplomat Dennis Rodman arrived in North Korea for his second informal diplomatic visit to the rogue country, a U.S. student who was detained in a Pyongyang prison was released from custody.
Otto Warmbier, a 22-year old former University of Virginia student, was arrested and given a 15-year prison sentence for ripping down a political poster during a 2016 student trip. He had been imprisoned in a labor camp ever since and according to his parents has been in a coma for over a year.
The U.S. Department of State is denying that Rodman’s visit is in anyway connected with the release of Warmbier, but we’re gonna go ahead and give the credit to The Worm.
Dennis Rodman, you the real MVP. Good thing the release didn’t come down to a free throw shooting contest.
