Most of the time in Florida, if you see an alligator roaming around the stadium at a sporting event, it’s time to head for the exits. Unless it’s Albert, the Florida Gator mascot.
Last night, during UF’s game against North Florida, Albert was cheesing it up with a kid in the stands when he spotted a foul ball headed in their direction. Instead of saving himself, Albert put himself in the line of fire, and took the foul ball off his headpiece rather than risk it hitting the kid.
The kid returned the favor by performing CPR on Albert, who survived the incident.
It’s always nice to see courage in action, even in small doses. Even from a mascot.
