There aren’t two more passionate – and some would say obnoxious – fan bases in the NFL than New England in Philadelphia, but it turns out Super Bowl LII isn’t the first time they’ve squared off.
SNL roasted fans from both cities with a hilarious sketch set during the American Revolution that depicted delegations from Philly and New England trash talking each other with all of the same traits as many of their descendants watching the big game today.
The New England colonists just can’t stop talking about their victories over the British and the greatness of their fearless general Thomas Brady. The Philly colonists just want to fight and aren’t above punching a 1775 police horse.
This may strike a nerve with the two Super Bowl cities who notoriously can’t take a joke, but everyone else will get a kick out of it.
History is funny.
