Miami crushed Notre Dame, 41-8, to remain undefeated, and the biggest star of the night for The U in The U’s biggest home game in forever wasn’t a player, it was the swagger dripping “Turnover Chain.”
The Chain got more airtime than anyone on the Irish, and will be the first thing people identify the game with 10-years from now, but not everyone is a fan of the chain, including Notre Dame Defensive coordinator Mike Elko.
While walking on the field with his players before the game, Elko called them in to give them an F-bomb laden pregame speech, letting them know in the most explicit of terms that he was sick of all the hype surrounding the Miami defense and The Chain. He finished by saying Miami can have their chain because the Irish were “getting the f—ing rings.”
Yeah, this speech didn’t age well. Last night was all about The U and The Chain.
