The sad news broke near the end of Game 2 of the Cavs/Pacers series that Erin Popovich, the wife of Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, had passed away after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.
During his on-court interview following the 100-97 Cavs win, Allie La Force asked LeBron for his thoughts on the passing. LeBron offered his condolences in a poignant response, but social media immediately went into an outrage under the premise that La Force blindsided James with the question. Had that been the case, there may have been some basis for the outrage. It was not the case.
It turns out that La Force did ask LeBron if he wanted to address the topic before the interview. A live feed that later emerged appears to show La Force giving LeBron a heads up before going on-air.
Appears Allie LaForce tells LeBron about Popovich here on video before interview. LeBron asks, “Is he coaching?” Meaning LeBron may have been acting like he’d just been informed live. pic.twitter.com/YOGRXNaDM6

James later broke his zero dark thirty playoff mode to confirm in an Instagram post that La Force asked him about the topic before the interview. So, nothing to see here. Everyone can go back to Twitter now and look for the next thing to be outraged about.
