Herm Edwards is a devout man of faith, and apparently it may take some time for him to get used to working for the Devils.
During his introductory press conference as the new Arizona State football coach, today in Tempe, Edwards fielded a question from a reporter who announced he wrote for DevilsDigest.com. Herm immediately launched into a mini-joking-rant about the blog having “Devil” in the title, and didn’t appear to connect the dots that he is now employed by the Arizona State Sun Devils.
The room full of reporters laughs initially, but it gets a little weird at the end when it becomes clear Edwards wasn’t in on the joke, despite being flanked by a media screen covered in pitchforks.
This is a fantastically awkward first impression by Edwards, hopefully it’s not the first sign of a total disaster.
“Devils Digest? I’m Catholic now, I’m Christian. Watch out for them devils.”
