Thursday Night Football has been criticized by fans for being a sub par product, and by players, who say the short turnaround time to play in an NFL game is a legitimate health safety risk.
After losing six players to injury last night in a 20-17 loss to the Falcons, Drew Brees was asked how much of a factor playing on Thursday was in contributing to the injuries. According to Brees, well, all of it.
“It’s 100% a product of playing on Thursday night.”
Thursday Night Football is here to stay because the NFL sees an additional revenue stream, now they just have to get the fans and players on board. Good luck.
