Gamblers who took the Eagles -9.5 against the Raiders on Monday Night thought they received a Christmas miracle cover when, leading 13-10, Derek Barnett recovered a failed last ditch lateral attempt by the Raiders for a touchdown, as time expired.
All that remained was the extra point, which would have given bettors an unexpected windfall, or those that took Philly -10 before kickoff, a push. That’s when Eagles Head Coach Doug Pederson decided to kneecap those who bet on his team by opting to kneel down instead of kicking the PAT, ending the game at 19-10. Ouch.
This one will haunt some dreams, and is a reminder that gambling is the cruelest of mistresses. Unless, you had the Raiders and the points.
