This morning, Deshaun Watson sits atop the college football world after a historic 35-31 national championship win over Nick Saban’s latest Alabama juggernaut. Watson finished the night with 420 yards passing and three touchdowns, including the game-winning touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow with one second left in the game.

But, the game wasn’t all smooth sailing for Watson. He was on the receiving end of a number of vicious Crimson Tide hits that would have knocked many quarterbacks out of the game. He kept coming back for more.
The most punishing shot came with Clemson trailing 17-14 in the third quarter, as Watson scrambled to convert a third-and-long. As he attempted to stretch to get the first, he was crushed by an Alabama defender, and sent into a violent helicopter spin like he was John Elway in Super Bowl XXXII against the Packers.

It was worth it. He’s a national champion.
