Conor McGreggor has been charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief after Thursday’s unhinged attack on a bus of fighters at a UFC 223 press conference at the Barclays Center. Fighter Michael Chiesa was allegedly injured when McGregor shattered a bus window by throwing an object.

McGregor turned himself into authorities after learning that a warrant had been issued for his arrest, and this morning was filmed leaving police station in handcuffs and entering a waiting car to drive to his arraignment on the charges. Conor hasn’t fought in a UFC match since November, 2016. This latest incident makes it less likely UFC’s biggest star will be fighting in the Octagon anytime soon.
Some people have insinuated that his is a master publicity stunt cooked up by Dana White and McGregor, but people don’t actually get arrested by the real police for a fake stunt. If they did, it would be a whole other level of commitment to PR.
