Cam Newton and the Panthers don’t play their first game until next week, but if his younger brother Caylin’s performance against UNLV, last night, is any indication, it could be a big year for the Newton’s.
Caylin, the quarterback for Howard University, entered the game against the Runnin’ Rebels as 45-point underdogs, but pulled the outright upset with a 43-40 win. For his part, Newton finished the night with 190 yards rushing, and 140 yards passing.
Our pal RJ Bell at Pregame.com said it was the largest outright upset, in terms of point spread, in college football history. A $100 bet on Howard to win would have netted a cool $55,000 for anyone that had the stones to pull the trigger. It’s appropriate the game was played in Vegas.
