Bill Walton is a national treasure. He has an NCAA title, 2 NBA championships, and the biggest Grateful Dead bootleg collection this side of Shakedown Street.
We’ve come to expect the unexpected from Big Bill, and he didn’t disappoint again today. During the live broadcast of the Kansas/Texas Big 12 game, he decided to take off an uncomfortable tie dye shirt in favor of his preferred “Keep Austin Weird” tie dye.
Throw it DOWN big fella!!
Walton was briefly shirtless on live TV, which has to be a first for a college basketball broadcaster. Let’s just hope Dickie V doesn’t get any ideas.
Jerry Garcia summed up the Walton shirtless incident best in the Dead classic Scarlet Begonias:
“Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.”
Check out the Walton shedding his shirt, but more importantly, look at the reaction of the lady behind him who looks like she threw up in her mouth. Fantastic.
