Tom Brady’s mysterious injured hand was the dominant topic of conversation leading up the the AFC Championship Game, and as kickoff approached, it was revealed that Brady required 10 stitches in order to play. Despite the injury, Brady authored another late game comeback to beat the Jags and move on to yet another Super Bowl.
In his postgame presser, Bill Belichick – dressed like someone who was given an outfit after being rescued following months at sea – was asked some leading questions designed to produce an quotable answer about Brady’s heroics, but he wasn’t taking the bait. Bill dismissed the question and threw cold on the hyperbole surrounding the injury:
“We’re not talking about open-heart surgery, here.”
Don’t come into the lion’s den trying to get puff quotes for an emotional feel good piece. It’s not happening. The contempt for this question is strong.
