Aside from the known commodities of college basketball, Real Madrid’s 6’8” 19-year-old Slovenian born shooting guard Luka Doncic is in the mix to be selected first overall. As with most foreign players, casual NBA fans aren’t overly excited about Doncic because they’ve never seen him play, unlike the stable of college basketball’s one and dones. They should be.
This highlight package of Doncic in action with Real shows a scorer with a deadly outside shot and incredible court vision carving up Spanish league defenses like a seasoned vet. Don’t forget, he’s 19 and doing this at the highest level of European professional basketball, not against Loyola.
Doncic only played 19.9 minutes per game, but still averaged 7.8 points, 4.2 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game this past season. His game is perfect for the modern NBA. Think a better shooting version of Toni Kukoc.
Watch why many are calling him a generational international talent.
