UFC 205 is going down this Saturday night in New York at Madison Square Garden, and Colin thinks it’s going to be the biggest event at Madison Square Garden in 20 years. UFC is destroying boxing and wrestling and it’s not even close. UFC is progressing as a sport, and creating new stars, while boxing and wrestling are recycling their old stars and look stuck in the past.
“You can tell when something is really powerful by what it does to its opponents. UFC has killed boxing. Boxing is dead.”
There is a scarcity of great talent in the world. There is plenty of good talent, but great is hard to find. Reports have surfaced that NFL teams are preparing to go hard after Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh for $10-15 million a year. Why? The scarcity of great.
“Everybody is seeking great. Folks, there’s not even that much ‘very good’.”
Notre Dame’s fan base is the most delusional in sports. Colin is sick of hearing that Brian Kelly needs to go after one down year. Kelly has the most wins of any active head coach in the FBS, and has won 70% of his games at Notre Dame while dealing with its geographic isolation and rigid academic restrictions. Notre Dame fans need to get a grip. If they fire Brian Kelly, they aren’t going to do better.
NBA head coaches Stan Van Gundy and Steve Kerr have been outwardly critical of Donald Trump since Tuesday’s election. Colin thinks that in our society, people like strong opinions as long as the opinion agrees with their viewpoint. He’s in favor of people exercising their right to dissent against those in power, even if some people disagree.
“I like living in a country where people are allowed strong opinions about the person who just got elected president. People had them 4 years ago, people had them 8 years ago, and people had them today. Would you rather live in a country where people hide their emotions? I wouldn’t.”
