The Celtics will become the Patriots of the NBA Eastern Conference for the next decade
Even with Gordon Hayward down for the year, it’s clear the Celtics rebuild is way ahead of other rebuilding projects around the league, including the rival Lakers. Even though Colin doesn’t think they’ll win the East this year, he believes they will eventually dominate the Eastern Conference for an extended period of time, much like the Patriots have dominated the AFC.
Danny Ainge has methodically and unemotionally made moves, and Brad Stevens has established himself as one of the top coaches in the NBA. They already have their franchise point guard, and after they make more moves in the offseason, the Eastern Conference will be off limits for the next decade.
The Niners will be fighting for a playoff spot next year
Like Cleveland, San Francisco has yet to win a game this season, but that’s where the similarities end. In the race to rebuild, the Niners are light years ahead of the Browns, and Colin thinks they’ll be fighting for a playoff spot next year.
GM John Lynch recently landed his franchise quarterback by prying Jimmy Garoppolo away from New England, and now should be able to parlay a likely top 2 pick into a haul of assets for teams wanting to move up in a quarterback heavy draft to help stock the roster. The Niners are on the fast track back to relevance.
Colin called the Rams as this year’s biggest turnaround team, and he’s predicting next year it’ll be San Fran.
