Stop making excuses for Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook got bounced in the first round of the playoffs last night by the Rockets, and Colin wasn’t shocked. During another fourth quarter where Westbrook ran out of gas, the announcers noted that he had played 40 minutes and was carrying the burden of the team, as an excuse for his performance.
Colin thinks it’s ridiculous to make excuses for Westbrook when he doesn’t have it in the fourth quarter of a first-round playoff game, but murder LeBron for cramping up after playing 40-plus minutes through to the Finals. Allen Iverson never got the same benefit of the doubt as Westbrook, either. He was significantly smaller than Westbrook, a better defender, and got routinely hammered in a more physical NBA.
It’s the responsibility of a true superstar to conserve energy at points in the game, so they can close it out in the fourth. Michael did it, LeBron does it. Westbrook doesn’t get it. That’s his problem. Stop making excuses.
“This is what’s happened in Russell Westbrook’s world. Excuse after excuse after excuse.”
The NFL Draft is all about production
The NFL Draft kicks off tomorrow night and NFL teams are furiously evaluating talent down to the last minute. Draft night-eve is the time when teams abandon carefully constructed draft strategy when the bullets are flying and make emotional decisions.
For months, the general consensus has been that this year’s quarterback class is subpar, but Colin thinks once the draft kicks off, however, teams will have no problem talking themselves into drafting quarterbacks in the first round. Draft “experts” say one quarterback might go, Colin thinks the number will be more like 4 or 5. The panic is already in the air, it is every year.
“My prediction is we will have three quarterbacks picked in the first round, maybe four.”
