Live from the MLB All-Star Game in Miami.

Colin sits down with Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred, Alex Rodriguez, Kevin Burkhardt, Joe Buck and John Smoltz from the midsummer classic in Miami. They discuss this season’s record home run pace, the future of baseball in Miami, and how to continue the recent uptick of youth participation in the sport.

New York is America’s capital for poorly run sports organizations.

The Knicks managed to make what is widely regarded as the NBA’s worst offseason signing by locking up mediocre guard Tim Hardaway, Jr. for $71 million only weeks after finally ending the disastrous Phil Jackson era. Former Cavs GM David Griffin just passed on the Knicks GM job after he was informed that he wouldn’t have final say in basketball decisions, and would not be allowed to hire his own staff.

Colin thinks Griffin was smart to run away from the job, rather than ruin his respected NBA reputation by being sucked into the dysfunction of owner James Dolan. Even front office hall of famer Donnie Walsh, who built the 90’s Pacers’ teams out of nothing, walked away a failure.

With the inept Knicks, a Jets team poised to tank for the NFL regular season, and a Mets team that’s been going nowhere for the better part of a decade, New York is America’s capital for poorly run sports organizations.

“New York has more bad ownership in sports than any place in the entire country right now.”

Lonzo Ball could do for passing what Steph Curry has done for the three-point shot.

Lonzo Ball made his NBA Summer League debut over the weekend, and he played one great game and one awful one. Even though Ball played a bad game, Colin likes what he sees in terms of Ball’s style of play that highlights his passing and getting teammates involved.

Much like Steph Curry has inspired young kids in gyms across the world to fall in love with the three, Ball has the potential to do the same for passing. If Ball breaks out in his rookie year as the orchestrator of a new Showtime style, it could influence kids to emulate his passing, and make the idea of score-first point guards in the NBA a thing of the past.

“What Steph Curry is doing to the 3-point shot Lonzo Ball has the potential to do for passing.”
