Clemson beat Alabama 35-31 in a college football instant classic that gave the Tigers their first national championship since 1981. The game had a little bit of everything Big plays from both teams, a terrific ending, and a superstar in Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Colin thinks sports are boring when the same team wins every year, so thinks Clemson winning is good for the sport. Alabama isn’t going anywhere though. They are already the odds-on favorite to win the title next year.
“It’s no shot at Alabama, but it’s better for college football that Clemson won.”
The other headline from last night’s Clemson win, came in head coach Dabo Swinney’s postgame press conference where he called out one Colin Cowherd as a ‘Fraud’ for his comments about Clemson after their slow start to the season.
Colin congratulated Dabo on his incredible victory, but he thought his criticisms of Clemson following a 6-point win against Troy, and an overtime win at home thanks to a missed N.C. State chip shot field goal were fair.
Clemson did start slow, but they ended the season strong, and Dabo Swinney and his team deserve all the credit. He also appreciates them listening to the show.
“Tip of the cap to Clemson. They got better as the year progressed. They almost stubbed their toe a multitude of times. They lost to Pitt, and if a 33-yard field goal by an average North Carolina State team goes through, they end up in maybe the Peach or the Outback Bowl.”
The New York Giants reportedly trashed a plan on their flight home from their playoff loss in Green Bay. They’re denying it, although it seems like a strange story to just make up out of thin air. In other tales of bad behavior around the NFL, Steelers assistant Joey Porter They are and Joey Porter got fired for his arrest outside of a Pittsburgh bar for an alcohol related fight he was involved in.
In both cases, Colin doesn’t have time for people that always have an excuse, or always need to tell their side of the story on why they aren’t responsible for their actions. Grow up and take responsibility.
“There are people that attract trouble, and people that avoid it. What do you want to be?”
