Iowa is still ‘The Fake I.D of College Football’

Iowa is back at the player’s club, trying to sneak into with the same tired fake I.D they had last year. While most real powerhouses schedule at least one heavyweight matchup on the front end of their schedule, Iowa refuses to schedule any tough out of conference games.

This year, Kirk Ferentz dialed up the murderer’s row of North Texas and Wyoming.

Colin is sick of Iowa fans screaming for a seat at the big boy table with a fraudulent resume. Last year they lost at home to North Dakota State.

You know who is scheduling tough games? Jim Harbaugh.

You’re the same fan base that demands I include you in Rose Bowl talk, but you’ve lost 5 straight bowl games.

Do you know why you’ve lost 5-straight bowl games? Because you get into bowls you didn’t earn because you’re the Fake I.D of college football.

Deshaun Watson is the #1 quarterback in this year’s NFL Draft

Every year, the NFL pre-draft process sends prospects rocketing up NFL Draft boards based on workout performances, while proven talents get picked apart because they don’t test out well. No other position has a history of risers and fallers like quarterback.

The pre-draft process determined that Alex Smith was better than Aaron Rodgers, and dropped Derek Carr to the second round.

Recent rumors report that the Browns are considering drafting North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Colin isn’t buying it.

Colin still thinks Deshaun Watson is the best quarterback in the class, and he doesn’t think it’s close. Watson is getting picked apart in the draft process, but Colin pointed out that his college numbers compare favorably to Russell Wilson. Watson has played his best on the biggest stage, and he’s not the first quarterback to throw a bunch of picks in college. So did Jameis Winston, and he was still the #1 pick after amassing a high interception total.

Trubisky, on the other hand, has all the red flags of a bust. One year starter. Didn’t play well against his best competition. Brian Kelly thinks Kizer needs another year in school. Watson’s thinks he’s Michael Jordan.

“I got footage. I got stats. I got comparables. I got maturity. He’s gonna drop behind Mitch Trubisky and DeShone Kizer. I don’t get it.”

Staying for a second year in college hoops is better than being a one-and-done in the D-League

Multiple sources are reporting that Gonzaga 7-footer Zach Collins is contemplating making the jump to the NBA after one season with the Bulldogs. He would be the first one-and-done for the Zags. He has huge potential, but only averaged 10 points in the WCC.

Colin talked to several scouts who told him that Collins would likely be a late lottery pick, but would spend a considerable amount of time gaining game experience in the D-League.

Colin doesn’t understand why he would choose riding buses through the various D-League ghost towns, when he could wait a year, stay in the superior environment of Gonzaga, dominate, and make more money in a weaker draft.

Another year in Spokane beats taking buses to Bakersfield.

“If you’re not ready emotionally and physically for this league, it will eat you alive.”

Guests:

Chris Broussard – FS1 NBA Insider is in-studio to discuss why the Mavericks can’t land free agents; if the Western Conference is as overrated as Colin says it is; and why the Cavs have definitely underachieved this year.

Jason McIntyre –  Founder of TheBigLead.com and co-host of Speak for Yourself is in-studio to talk the Nets sitting starters in their last game; if LeBron should have different rules; and why the Cavs are going to get rolled by the Warriors in the Finals.
