Colin doesn’t care about where people come from, he only cares how they perform. Whether it’s co-workers or quarterbacks, he’s about performance pedigree. He thinks that apologists are quick to make excuses for Cam Newton’s poor play because he was the number one overall pick. Newton has a six year track record of inconsistency, but he still gets the benefit of the doubt.
Conversely, Dak Prescott hasn’t gotten the benefit of any doubt at any point during the season because he’s a late round pick, and was even in jeopardy of being benched after winning 11 games this year. If you only look at the two quarterbacks in terms of performance, Prescott is the one who is more accurate and detail oriented, and he always says the right thing. He’s the better quarterback.
“Dak’s better than Cam. He is. He’s more accurate. He’s more precise. He’s more detailed. He’s more mature. He’s more even. His judgment’s terrific. On the field he doesn’t throw picks, and in front of a microphone he always says the right thing.”
Social media is buzzing this morning over Duke guard Grayson Allen’s most recent tripping incident in a blowout win against Elon last night. It’s the third such incident for Allen tripping an opponent, and Coach K announced this morning that Allen would be suspended indefinitely for the action. Colin thinks Allen’s tripping is worse than Draymond Green’s groin kicking, and has questions about Allen’s temper tantrum on the bench after the incident.
“He’s tripping people away from the ball. Like, you got something wrong with you upstairs. You are not all there. Then he goes to the sidelines and he acts 12. That would concern me. That’s a brat.”
Nick Saban weighed in on the recent controversy regarding top NFL prospects skipping bowl games in to avoid injury risk. Saban said the players aren’t to blame because the current playoff system makes the remainder of the bowls largely irrelevant. Colin agrees with Saban that the playoff has killed the bowl season, but thinks it’s much better than the previous BCS format.
While prospects skipping bowls is one negative consequence of the new format, the playoff system has been an overall positive and gives the college football season the ending that it deserves.
“College football needed a reboot.”
