Colin thinks it’s always a better to outline your life in pencil and not in pen. Meaning, it’s always better to have flexibility than to be confined by permanent decisions that box you in. He thinks this also applies to the College Football Playoff, and the idea that there should be a hard and fast rule that only conference champions should be eligible for the playoff. The Penn State contingent is screaming today that they should be in over Ohio State because they won the Big Ten Championship.
Colin thinks it’s very possible that Penn State could be in Ohio State’s position as a one-loss non-conference champion next year. If they do, they would be excluded based on the argument they’re making right now. In Colin’s opinion, it would be better for Penn State to keep its options open, instead of being a prisoner to rigid restrictions that may help them now, but hurt them down the road.
“Penn State, take a deep breath. A year from now, you’re gonna finish second in your division of the Big Ten, maybe the third best team in the country. According to you, you shouldn’t be allowed in because you didn’t win the conference championship.”
Being a star doesn’t mean you’re the best at what you do. Colin has said that he thinks Cam Newton is a star, but he’s not a great quarterback. Keanu Reeves is a star, but he’s not a great actor. Right now, Cam is playing poorly, his mechanics are a mess, and he’s completing a Tebowesque 50% of his passes. He’s not a great quarterback, he’s a star.
“His mechanics are in the tank. And his completion percentage now is lower than the Tebow stuff.”
For Colin, the biggest game of the bowl season isn’t any of the Final Four matchups. It isn’t even the clash between traditional powers Penn State and USC in the Rose Bowl. Colin is going to have his eyes glued to the Outback Bowl on January 2, between Iowa and Florida.
Colin MAY have placed a sizeable wager on the season win total over/under for Iowa at 8.5 wins. Iowa is sitting at 8 wins right now, and if they can beat Colin’s college roommate Jim McElwain and the Florida Gators, they will make Colin a pile of cash. If they lose, Colin’s next family vacation may look like a remake of National Lampoon’s Vacation. Colin has called Iowa the Fake I.D of College Football, but there will be no bigger fan of the Hawkeyes when they play their bowl game than Uncle Colin.
“I’ve never asked my audience to do anything for me. I’m asking you to pray for me and my family.”
The Raiders are 10-2 after yet another comeback win against the Bills yesterday. Colin has been all over the Raiders since the beginning of the year and thinks they’re the real deal. They can lose the stats battle, they can be outplayed for most of a game, but they still find a way to win. He thinks that with Derek Carr, Khalil Mack, and Amari Cooper, the Raiders have three of the best young stars in the league. They’re fun to watch, and they’re for real.
“I’m telling you, man. You’ve gotta take the Raiders seriously. They can lose the statistical battle. They can lose the box score. They have 3 of the top 5 stars in the league on that roster.”
