Big time college athletes have to choose athletics over academics
UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen made comments that big time college athletes can’t excel on the field and in serious academic majors in the class room, and Colin mostly agrees with his stance.
He thinks that the idea of an elite college athlete also excelling in a challenging academic major is next to next to impossible due to the time commitment required to play at the highest level of college sports. Even though they may have to forego spending the same amount of time pursuing academics as normal college students, athletes get a college full ride college experience, live better than their peers, leave school with no debt, and in the case of a Josh Rosen, have the opportunity to make millions playing professionally.
Big time athletes need to choose if they are willing to sacrifice academics for athletics, but life is full of choices.
Floyd Mayweather isn’t telling the truth, he’s selling the fight
In the past week, Conor McGregor’s ex-sparring partner has publicly ripped McGregor and said he regularly roughed him up in training. Today, Floyd Mayweather said in an interview that he is convinced that fight will be competitive, and he is planning on changing to an attacking style to make the product better for the fans. He also said McGregor has a legitimate shot to win.
Colin doesn’t think for a second that Mayweather believes any of this, but had to make the comments to save the fight’s credibility. The idea Mayweather is doing anything to please fans is also laughable. He’s never been concerned with anything other than cashing his checks. He needs this pay day so he’ll do anything to save it.
