Adrian Peterson is the most overrated NFL player in the past 20 years
The Saints announced they’ve signed running back Adrian Peterson to a two-year deal, and Colin doesn’t think the signing will have any major impact.
At 32, Peterson is well past the 30-year old mark that usually spells the end for running backs in the league, but Colin never viewed the 2012 NFL MVP as a valuable player.
Some of this is due to Colin’s long held theory that quarterbacks win games in the NFL, while running backs are largely interchangeable parts. Peterson’s production never led to any team success in the playoffs, and even at his best, he would only move a Vegas line by a point.
Much like Russell Westbrook in the NBA, fans and the media have always been in awe of Peterson’s jaw dropping ability, but conveniently looked past his flaws. Looking past the highlight runs and dynamic ability, Peterson has had a chronicling fumbling problem, is an unnatural pass catcher, and isn’t a great pass blocker. He’s a two-down back in a passing league.
“I think he’s the most overrated football player in the league in the last 20 years.”
John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan look like they have a plan to turn around the Niners
The 49’ers have been in the tank since Jim Harbaugh left the organization, but Coli is impressed with the early signs he’s seeing from GM John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan in the short times since they took over several months back.
He likes that they have stabilized the quarterback position next year by signing veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer. He won’t be great, but he’ll be solid and can competently run an offense.
They also appear to be committed to the defensive side of the ball in the upcoming draft. This all adds up to a plan to stay competitive in games and give themselves a chance to win. They are still a long way off, but if they can pry Kirk Cousins away from the Redskins, they could be off and running.
“I see a plan here with them.”
