The Celtics aren’t as close to contending as they think they are
The Celtics are in a 0-2 hole in their first round series against the Bulls, after dropping their second straight at home last night. The Bulls have been inconsistent all year, but so far in the playoffs, their stars have been the difference.
Jimmy Butler has consistently been the best player on the floor for either team so far in the series, and Rajon Rondo controlled Game 2 with his all-around floor game and playoff experience.
The Celtics won’t ever challenge in the East until they stop being paralyzed by fear in negotiations and close the deal to bring in a star. This isn’t the NFL, they’re not th ePatrio
“They think they’re close. They’re not close. They’re not close to being close.”
The playoffs are about winning games, not triple doubles
The playoffs are all about winning games, toughness, defense, and intensity, not about compiling stats. After a regular season that saw a record number of triple doubles, we have yet to see one in the first round of the playoffs. There’s a reason for that. When the games matter, they don’t matter.
The triple double fascination was a story cooked up by the media, who were grasping for storylines during one of the most boring seasons in recent memory. Now it’s playoff time, where the only stat that matters is getting W’s.
“In the playoffs, the story is the outcome of the game, not stats.”
