Colin Kaepernick has become the most controversial figure in sports without setting foot on the field. That might soon change. According to a recent Bleacher Report story, momentum is gaining in the San Francisco locker room to play Kaepernick and see if he still has any bicep-kissing magic left in the tank from the Jim Harbaugh days.
The Niners sit at 1 -3 and tied for last in the NFC West. Starter Blaine Gabbert has looked like Blaine Gabbert. Which is a bad thing. He’s tossed 4 touchdowns and only cracked the 200-yard mark once this season. Last week, he played San Francisco out of a home win against Dallas with an uncanny ability to not make any big plays.
With San Francisco’s offense driving with the parking brake on, and the season headed for an imminent death spiral, Herd guest host Nick Wright thinks it’s time for the Niners to kick the tires on Kaepernick and give him some run.
“The Niners are going to be out of it sooner than later, and Blaine Gabbert is not good. So don’t you owe it to your team to figure out, in Chip Kelly’s system, can Colin Kaepernick do some things?”
A couple more lackluster duds from Gabbert could make the change happen sooner than later.
“I bet they do in the next month. By the midpoint of the season, he’s the starting quarterback. We’ll see if he can play.”
Get the heart meds ready Kaep haters. It’s about to get real.
Kaepernick always shredded the Packers defense for some reason on the ground and with his arm… pic.twitter.com/ZGAjBjlCDW
