Prior to the AFC Championship game, Tom Brady injured his thumb on a practice hand off and social media went wild with speculation on the nature and severity of the injury. The mystery deepened in the run up to the game because the Patriots were typically hush on the details and Brady showed up to several press conferences wearing gloves.
The latest episode of Tom vs. Time was filmed during this year’s playoffs and gives a behind the scenes look at Brady’s injured hand, confirming it was as bad, or worse, than the worst of the internet speculation.
In a scene with training guru Alex Guerrero, the camera clearly shows a significant number of stitches at the base of his right thumb. Brady discussed his reaction when it happened, and said the feared his season might be over. As we know, Brady played despite the Frankenstein thumb and beat the Jaguars. The win definitely gets another bump after seeing this monstrosity.
