Vegas has released its NBA Over/Under win totals for the 2016-17 season. Colin looked at the sheet and one number jumped off the page more than any other. Golden State’s over/under at 66.5 wins.
Colin is smelling a Vegas trap, set for overly emotional and optimistic Warriors fans to jump on the Over. Take off your brand new Kevin Durant jersey, fanboy. Colin is trying to help you make the smart play here. Take the Under.
“Golden State, 66.5. bet the under, don’t be a sucker on this. Fans generally bet the over because they’re more hopeful. That’s the way fans are. Fans are hopeful so they always take the over.”
66.5 wins falls on the ear as achievable by the newly minted super team, but NBA history shows it’s a number many all-time great players and teams have rarely reached.
“66 wins is a ton,” Colin said. “Magic and Kareem never won 66 games, Bird did it once, 67.”
Getting to 67 wins also assumes that the Super-Warriors will dominate from the first whistle of the season. Recent history has shown that super-teams need time to stretch their legs before they hit their stride. Chemistry won’t be instant.
“You’re gonna have chemistry issues. Don’t forget LeBron, Wade and Bosh won 58 games their first year. That was in a weaker Eastern Conference.”
Don’t believe the hype.
