The most unexpected move from the NBA Draft didn’t come from a pick, but from a draft night trade involving one of the NBA’s elite teams. Following their devastating loss to Golden State in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, Oklahoma City began the off season arms race to unseat the Warriors on draft night.
The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski continued his dictatorship like dominance over NBA insiders at the draft as he broke the news on the trade that sends longtime Thunder power forward Serge Ibaka to the Magic for shooting guard Victor Oladipo, Ersan Illyasova and their first round pick, Gonzaga power forward Domantas Sabonis.

The trade is a stunner because although Ibaka was inconsistent in the regular season, he played his best basketball in the Playoffs. He gave Golden State fits because of his ability to guard multiple positions and shot around 40% from three.
OKC GM Sam Presti hopes adding Oladipo and pairing Sabonis with Steven Adams and Enes Kanter is a roster upgrade that will help them dethrone the Warriors as Western Conference champs.
Then the internet collectively asked, “What does Kevin Durant think?”
