Last night, Kevin Love singlehandedly put away Portland with an NBA record 34 first quarter points, including 8 threes. He finished with 40 on the night in the Cavs 137-125 win over the Blazers.
The 34 points was just 3 shy of Klay Thompson’s NBA single quarter record of 37. Still, not a bad frame for Love.

No one took more heat when things were going wrong in Cleveland than Kevin Love. Twitter had him shipped out of town half way through the Finals. But, Love hauled in 14 key rebounds in Game 7 to help the Cavs win a title, and has quickly gone from potential scapegoat to favorite son.
This year, Love is playing like a man with the weight of winning his first title off his shoulders. He’s averaging close to 22 points and 11 boards on the year, the first time he’s put up those numbers since he was an All-Star in Minnesota.
Last night, it was all Love.
