It’s been another bad couple of days in the slow motion 17 car pile up that is Johnny Manziel. He’s spent more time on TMZ than Harvey Levin this offseason. From facing battery charges for an incident involving his ex-girfriend, to raging at Coachella, to wrecking an L.A. rental home and destroying a rental car, it’s been clear Johnny Football is in a dark place.
In an interview with ESPN’s Josina Anderson, Johnny’s father Paul Manziel, was candid about the extent of his son’s downward spiral and the cause of it.
“He’s a druggie. It’s not a secret that he’s a druggie. I don’t know what to say other than my son is a druggie and he needs help. He just hasn’t seeked it yet. Hopefully he doesn’t die before he comes to his senses. That’s about all you can say. I don’t know what else to say. I hate to say it but I hope he goes to jail.”
Paul Manziel’s blunt revelations come on the heels of Manziel’s attorney Bob Hinton accidentally texting the Associated Press a message intended for another attorney earlier this week.

In the message, Hinton expressed concern that his client would be able to comply with the terms of any probation in the event of a plea deal. “Heaven help us if one of the conditions is to pee in a bottle,” he told the AP. He also rebutted rumors circulating around social media that Manziel bought over $1,000 of drug paraphernalia at a head shop earlier in the week.
It’s another sad chapter in Johnny Football’s sad decline, hopefully it’s not the last one.
