Hurricanes’ forward Brian Bickell played in his first home game since returning from his diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis last November. The Canes lost 3-0 to the Islanders, but none of that matters.
When asked by reporters about how he felt in his return, Bickell got understandably emotional and broke down in tears several times. It could be inferred from comments that he is considering stepping away from the game for good.
He’s facing a long, uncertain road ahead, and this interview absolutely breaks your heart. Sports are a distraction, this is real life. Never confuse the two.
