By now, most have seen the brief video of the Russian Su-27 fighter jet coming within feet of a U.S. EP-3 Aries surveillance spy plane over the Black Sea, but the initial video didn’t show any context to the real life Top Gun scene.
A new extended video of the incident has been released by the U.S. Naval forces Europe/Africa 6th Fleet that shows the the Russian fighter tracking the U.S. plane for an extended time before screaming off into the distance.
A couple of feet in either direction here and this could have been an international incident. Unfortunately, the U.S. plane didn’t fly upside down, above the Russian jet to give them the finger. Not every pilot is as skilled as Maverick.
