With his Clippers trailing the Nets 117-115, with 18 seconds left in overtime, Doc Rivers was ejected from the game, and temporarily lost his mind.
Basketball coach ejections usually go pretty smoothly. There are heated words and insults exchanged, and then the coach gives a disgusted “[forget] you” hand waive to the officials while exiting the court.
Rivers, on the other hand, briefly transformed into an angry baseball manager and had to be restrained by players and coaches to prevent him from going after the ref that tossed him. Doc was ready to go after people.
The Nets ended up winning the game 127-122 in double overtime and Rivers got an early shower.
If you get tossed, why not get your money’s worth? Somewhere, Earl Weaver is smiling.
