Dwyane Wade is the greatest player in the history of the Miami Heat franchise. Last night, he received a hometown introduction and an appreciative welcome from Miami fans in his first game back since leaving for Chicago after 13 years in South Beach, including 3 NBA titles.

Wade scored an unspectacular 13 points on 5 of 17 shooting, but the Bulls pulled out a 98-95 victory in his return. He did have one turn-back-the-clock highlight, for old times’ sake, when he pulled off a patent spin move and baseline reverse layup finish.

The result of the game was secondary to the atmosphere, and bizarre sight of Wade wearing the opposing team’s colors in Miami. Last night was the product of the harsh reality of the business of sports, but Miami will always be Wade County. That will never change.
