Cross country running is generally not considered a contact sport. The only pain cross country runners plan to experience when they begin a race is from fatigue and internal pain. A video from a college cross country race has surfaced online that has changed that perception.
The video shows footage from a group of unsuspecting runners crossing an open field during a race, when suddenly a herd of deer begin sprinting across the field toward the runners.
The deer proceed to sprint directly through the pack of runners, as onlookers scream for the runners to watch out.
One poor, unsuspecting kid, Justin DeLuzio of Gwynedd Mercy University, gets absolutely body bagged by one of the deer, like an NFL wide receiver going over the middle on a crossing pattern.
It’s hard not to watch it 1,000 times in a row before watching it another 1,000 times. Luckily, DeLuzio wasn’t seriously hurt, and even managed to finish the race! Nails, kid.
Man vs. Nature is a battle that has existed since the beginning of mankind. This round goes to nature, by a knockout. Deers are the middle linebackers of the animal kingdom.
There’s still no word from the NFL league offices and Roger Goodell if the deer will be fined or suspended for what was clearly an illegal hit.
