It’s Friday in The Herd and it’s time for the Blazin’ 5 for NFL Week 5. If sleeping on a mattress stuffed with money isn’t your thing, please don’t read any further.
Colin had a small set back after back-to-back winning weeks, but even Nostradamus had a couple of misfires. He was 2 – 3 in Week 4, and dropped to .500 (10-10) for the year. This week he’s taking more dogs than your local animal shelter.
Don’t listen to your buddy Tony “The Toenail”. Colin’s coming back to loot the boys in Vegas like his name was Danny Ocean.
Here are Colin’s plays for NFL Week 5. It’s the Blazin’ 5.
1.San Diego (+3.5) at Oakland – The Chargers have been decimated by a nasty case of the torn ACL bug, but have somehow managed to put up 30.3 points per game, which is 3rd best in the NFL. They’re 1-3, but could be 4-0 if it wasn’t for several late game collapses. San Diego has won 6 of their last 9 against the Raiders, while Oakland has dropped 4 of their last 5 at home. The Raiders D is allowing a league worst 460 yards per game. Colin likes Phillip Rivers and the Bolts to steal one in the Black Hole. 31-28 San Diego.
2. Buffalo (+2.5) at Los Angeles – The 3-1 Rams have been the surprise team in the NFL, but they didn’t score a touchdown in their only home game this year. Buffalo is 2-0, and has outscored New England and Arizona 49-18 in their last two games, including shutting out the Patriots, who were averaging 27 points per game. The Bills interior defense will be improved with Pro Bowl defensive lineman Marcell Dareus returning from a four-game suspension. Take the Bills and the points and the upset in the Mediocre Offense Bowl. 14-13 Buffalo.
3. Titans (+3.5) at Miami – For Tennessee, revenge is a dish best served in Miami. They lost 38-10 last year and have this one circled on the calendar. That matters. What also matters is that Miami is 4-6 in their last 10 home games, and has been outscored by 40 points in that stretch. Their only win on the season came against the lowly Browns in overtime. Colin likes Mariota and Titans, the points, and the outright upset. 24-21 Tennessee.
4. Washington (+3.5) at Baltimore – Colin thinks Baltimore is the most overrated team in the NFL. They won their first 3 games by a combined 13 points. Kirk Cousins has been a monster on the road recently. He’s 4-0 with 10 touchdowns, 1 interception and a 69% completion rate in his last 4 roadies. Washington sneaks into Baltimore and pulls the outright upset as a road dog, 27-26.
5. Cincinnati (+1) at Dallas – Dallas is first in the NFL in 3rd Down conversions and 10+ play drives, but Cincy is easily the best defense they’ve seen so far this year. The Bengals have dominated NFC teams, going 9-1-1 in their last 11 games. The Cowboys have dropped 3 of 4 against AFC opponents and are ranked 25th in the NFL in points allowed per game. Colin likes the Bengals, the point, and the outright upset. 26-23 Cincinnati.
That’s a Space X-launch-explosion-hot Blazin’ 5 for NFL Week 5.
