Colin has given out his pre-preseason NFL regular season picks this week, and now he’s looking toward the playoffs.
Today in The Herd, Colin seeded the playoff participants, and laid out the playoff picture as he sees it. He didn’t pick playoff games or the Super Bowl, just how he thinks the postseason will start.
Here are Colin’s 2017 NFL Playoff Predictions:
New England enters as the one-seed at 14-2 to get the first week bye, along with 11-5, 2-seed Pittsburgh. Even though 3-seed Tennessee has an identical 10-6 record, Colin thinks the Steelers beat Tennessee at home in Week 11, and have a better record in division.
On the bottom half of the picture, the 9-7 Rams edge out the 9-7 Dolphins to sneak in because Colin believes the Chargers win a Week 2 head-to-head in L.A., catching the Fins while newly-signed Jay Cutler is still figuring things out.
Here’s the full AFC playoff picture:
- Patriots – 14-2
- Steelers – 11-5
- Titans – 11-5
- Raiders – 10-6
- Colts – 10-6
- Chargers – 9-7
The 1-seed Packers earn a first round bye at 12-4, along with the 2-seed Seahawks at 10-6.
Despite division winners Carolina and Philly also finishing at 10-6, Seattle wins the tiebreaker with a better division record in the weaker NFC West. Carolina winds up with the 3-seed, and Philly gets the 4-seed by winning the NFC East over the 10-6 Cowboys, who land at the 5.
On the bottom half, Colin has Minnesota sneaking into the final spot at 9-7. He loves the roster defensively, and thinks the offense can cobble together enough points, and utilize rookie Dalvin Cook in the running game to make the cut.
Here’s the full NFC playoff picture.
- Packers – 12-4
- Seahawks – 10-6
- Panthers – 10-6
- Eagles – 10-6
- Cowboys – 10-6
- Vikings – 9-7
