Kevin Durant will return to Oklahoma City tomorrow night for the first time since leaving in free agency last summer to join the Warriors. Durant is probably in for a rude reception from Thunder fans and Colin thinks they’re way off base.
Today in The Herd, he called Thunder fans the trust fund kids of the NBA because they inherited a team they stole from Seattle, complete with budding superstar Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Not to mention they added James Harden. That’s not how expansion teams usually work.
“Do you think Oklahoma City has any idea how lucky they are?
They’re the trust fund kids of the NBA. They inherited KD and Westbrook. They didn’t earn it. They stole it from Seattle.”
Oklahoma City is angry that Durant left, but he’s not from there like LeBron is from Cleveland. He just played there for a period of time. OKC fans have never suffered through a truly tough season. If they think rooting for this year’s likely playoff team is rock bottom, talk to a Sixers fan.
“You woke up in a Mercedes. Your life has been nothing but rainbows, lollipops and birds singing.”
Regardless of how Colin thinks the OKC crowd should treat Durant, he predicts the resentful, small market venom will be out in abundance when he takes the floor.
“I think it’s gonna get ugly tomorrow night.
